Pebble Beach Golf Course vs Pinehurst No. 2

By Scott Mabin, Founder

Two public rounds every American golfer means to get to eventually, on opposite coasts and with almost nothing in common. Pebble Beach is coastal and weather-driven, small greens and the ocean waiting on your right for a good stretch of the back nine. Pinehurst No. 2 is inland Carolina sandhills, pine and wiregrass in place of cliffs, and its whole defence is the greens: crowned enough that a decent shot trickles off into a collection area and leaves you a genuinely awkward chip. Pebble is the one you photograph. Pinehurst is the one that quietly takes your score apart.
