I'm a golfer who came to it late. The travelling came first - years of trips and a running list of the countries I'd been to, long before I picked up a club. Golf arrived about a year and a half ago and it stuck.
It stuck on the road, too. Just after I started playing I found a driving range in Laos, and hitting balls there got me thinking about where else the game could go. Then a round near Mount Fuji settled it - I broke 100 for the first time, a 99 in sight of the mountain. I think about that round all the time. I want more like it, and a proper place to keep them.
I'm off 25 and I'll tell anyone that; the point was never that I play well. The point is the record. I kept one for countries years before I kept one for courses, and home in England or away, every round goes in it. Birdied is that record, and everything signed with my name on this site comes from it.
