Ballybunion Golf Club vs Lahinch Golf Club

By Scott Mabin, Founder

Two Atlantic links about two hours apart, and the real difference is scale. Ballybunion runs along the cliffs above the Shannon estuary and lets the dunes do the talking, big enough that you lose the group ahead between shots. Lahinch is tighter and stranger, a town course where the goats still tell you what the weather's about to do and a blind shot over a dune called the Klondyke is treated as normal. If you've got one round in Clare or Kerry, take Ballybunion for the sheer ground it covers. Take Lahinch if you'd rather play something with a sense of humour.
